You know, when they were getting into that whole marriage, golden-gardenias-seating-arrangements crap on the show, I was very, very, VERY unhappy. And NOT 'cuz Brian Kinney doesn't "do" marriage, but because he wouldn't do it that way unless it was to please Justin, which is what he thought he was doing. Frankly, I don't think Justin Taylor would do it that way either, lol, but he still had a lot to learn about how to communicate his relationship needs to Brian. I'm sure he was scared to say "no" to all of this 'cuz Brian seemed so sure about it.
Also, the ILY was way too fresh and they BOTH had a whole lotta work to do on how to be in a life-long, committed relationship. Which is why, when they decided not to do it that way, it was easy and felt right and I was freakin' thrilled.
However, from the moment that we saw that Brian didn't give back the rings, I knew marriage was inevitable. Brian always means what he does, not always what he says - or at the very least, what he says can be open to interpretation, lol. But, what you depicted here - casually putting on the rings w/out a lot of talk or a ceremony - is reflective of "teh love" as we all came to know it on the show. I seriously doubt they would ever have much of a public ceremony (although I've read and enjoyed fic where its been just them and a minister and that felt very real too) so this felt like a true trajectory from 513 - brava!
I liked Justin's solution to Brian's unhappiness and loneliness - webccam-sex and weekend visits sound perfect and a great way to spend his money, lol.
Justin asked a very, very good question at the end - maybe he should take that job, though, just to get some experience. Then he can take that experience and work anywhere right? What with video-conferencing and whatnot, he shouldn't have to be shackled to an office to do work that is basically all done on a computer.
