In Between, Part 8 (Cancer-Fic)

Timeline: What happened between episode 4.09 and 4.10 (POV’s). It starts right after "Eat some fucking chicken soup".

Summary: I am writing on it since weeks, so I just thought, maybe I should start posting it

Justin's POV

1)
Being with Brian was always complicated, but being with a sick Brian was unbelievably annoying, especially when you’re not allowed to act on that annoyance, because he’s sick, and we’re not talking about a cold or a flu.

He was even more stubborn than he already was when circumstances were normal. First it was about the showering, then about being toweled off – which he let me do in the end because I told him that I would not change the sheets again just because he’s to fucking stubborn or proud or what the fuck ever to let me help him.

Then it was about switching sides on bed, so that he could sleep closer to the bathroom – which he finally agreed, especially since normally he’s always sleeping on the bathside anyway. In the end I realized he just argued because it was the only kind of control he still had.

An hour later I finally had him showered and dried back in bed. The chicken soup had stayed inside him and Michael had brought some ginger ale while Brian was sleeping in the afternoon. He seemed to be relieved when I told him that I was back. I’m still pissed.

3)
Brian was not only not a morning person, he was a moody person no matter what time he woke up.

I put the trashcan beside the bed again, crawled up beside him, put us both under the duvet and looked at him. He still looked tired. "You won’t make it so hard for me the whole time, will you?“

"I didn’t ask you to be here.“ He didn’t look at me anymore.

"Do you want to me to leave?“ I asked him seriously, no sad emotion. This had to stop, he had to give in, he had to trust me.

4)
Then he looked at me again and I had problems to keep the serious look up, because there was so much pain in his eyes, but I sustained.

"No“, he whispered and closed his eyes briefly. I knew it was difficult for him to admit that he wanted me to stay, because for him it meant admitting that he needed me. And Brian Kinney doesn’t do needing.

"Good“, I answered. "Not that I would’ve left.“

"You tricked me.“

"I told you, I’ll do what’s best for you.“

He still looked at me and the angst in his eyes was back.

Amazing. Not only you write Brian so well, but Justin too.
I've loved this POV.
And this line "he just argued because it was the only kind of control he still had" is perfect and so true.
So glad to see that Brian has finally realized he needs and wants Justin with him in this moment.

Good updates! And I really liked in Part 7 how Justin's hair was long when he was kissing another guy in Brian's dream, very smart. 'Cause as much as I think Brian loved the long hair, it was also kind of Justin's "Ethan hair."

I've been reading every angst filled chapter and hurting and loving every one! Sorry I haven't commented yet (I don't think I have anyway.) I'm in grad-school and my parents are old people and I have a teenage boy ... well that about says it I guess about why I don't have time to comment much! I usually read these at night, like a little secret place I can go to watch their love and struggles and realize I'm not the only one! :-)
